The Salesian Family: A Vast Movement of People for Youth
The Salesian Family is a gift to the Church. It consists of a number of organizations that live the Salesian Charism and Spirituality. Don Bosco founded the Salesian Priests and Brothers, the Salesian Sisters, the Salesian Cooperators and the ADMA Association, the devotees of Our Blessed Mother.
After Don Bosco’s death, some thirty organizations came into being and are recognized as members of the Salesian Family because they clearly follow the Charism and Spirituality of Don Bosco. Don Bosco was chosen by God to bring about the work with youth, especially the poor and the needy. He had a passion for the young. His motto was: “GIVE ME SOULS, TAKE AWAY THE REST.”
The Salesian Family, through these organizations, continues to work for youth in many ministries and places. The devotion to Our Blessed Mother is a mark of the Salesian Family. Mary was for Don Bosco the guide and the protectress of all his works. He always turned to Mary for help before starting any project. We, the followers of Don Bosco, continue to love Mary and invoke her to help and to guide all our apostolates.
