Inspiring Vocations

Thanks to the Scanlan Foundation and generous donors like you, the Salesian Sisters are nurturing vocations in the Church through the Fiat Project. This 8-month initiative is designed to support women in their 20s and 30s in discerning God's call and embracing it as their mission. The overall objective is for young women to grow in holiness and understand that every vocation - whether it be consecrated life, marriage, or consecrated virginity - is meant to be lived in a deep relationship with Christ and in service to the Church and the world. With this opportunity, participants are able to come together for prayer, formation, small group sharing, and fellowship. The initial three months focus on deepening the participants' relationship with Christ and reflecting on their life journey thus far. This is followed by a session on marriage and subsequently three months dedicated to exploring religious life. The program concludes with a closing retreat centered around surrendering to God's will. Throughout the journey, participants must meet monthly with a spiritual director, a suitable sister, or a layperson to ensure that these young women continue to discern God's calling and receive guidance in deepening their prayer life.

Through the unique partnership between the Salesian sisters and their donors, the Fiat Project has yielded much fruit in the past 3 years. Over 120 individuals have participated, and out of them, 6 have entered formation with our congregation and 4 others have joined other communities. As we launched our fourth year this October, 75 eager participants joined us for the journey! In addition, we have expanded our collaboration by having other Salesian Sisters provinces and spiritual directors take part in the journey with us for the 2023 – 2024 cohort.

As Don Bosco stated “In my work for poor youth, I have only my good will. Without you, I can do nothing” The sisters with support from our communities, donors, and supporters have been able to bring so many closer to God. The young Church is flourishing, and we feel blessed to accompany of numerous young women who are seeking holiness.
